Mick Malec, enterprise technology & operations officer and chief executive officer, enGen, was recently awarded the Bender Consulting Services, Inc Technology Champion Award for his outstanding commitment to advancing competitive employment for people with disabilities within the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) career fields.
Representing the first recipient of the Technology Champion Award, Mick was recognized for blazing a trail for inclusion of the disability community in the workforce through all he has done and continues to do for the disability community around gainful employment. Bender applauds Mick’s leadership in this area and is proud to support his efforts to include people with disabilities in these job roles crucial to our nation’s workforce.
Additionally, to celebrate Mick’s achievement, October 16, 2023 was officially proclaimed as Mick Malec Technology Champion Day in the city of Pittsburgh.
Announced by Pittsburgh mayor Ed Gainey, Mick Malec Technology Champion Day celebrates Mick's outstanding contributions in helping those with disabilities gain meaningful employment in health IT. Noting that Mick has hired over 20 people yearly since 2021, the day honored Mick’s exemplary leadership in promoting disability inclusion and equity in the workforce.
A testament to Mick’s national advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities, these achievements prove that leaders like Mick are vitally important to the disability community as they work toward unlocking employment opportunities through innovative healthtech.
